Waits show how long people on the list have waited so far. They are a snapshot at the end of the month, not a promise of how long a new referral will take.
The median is the middle wait: half of people have waited less than this. The “92% within” figure is the wait that 92 in every 100 people are inside.
Each bar compares a provider with the NHS standard: 92% within 18 weeks for planned treatment, 99% within 6 weeks for tests, 95% within 4 hours for A&E, and 80%, 96% and 85% for the cancer 28-day, 31-day and 62-day standards.
(02)Things to know
Figures are for each NHS trust or independent provider as a whole. Trusts often run several hospitals, and distance is measured to the provider’s registered address.
Independent sector providers treat NHS patients free of charge. In most cases you have a legal right to choose where you are referred: your choices in the NHS. Talk to your GP about what is right for you.
This is not medical advice. If you need urgent help, use NHS 111 or call 999 in an emergency.
